Out of all the bold shades that are trending for this autumn, my favourites are the shades of orange and saffron that are too beautiful to pass up. Whether I’m whipping up a batch of Parisian macarons or set of enameled bangles, it seems like warm citrus tones just have a magnetic draw. It seems like the perfect color for mixing – it plays so well with mocha, pink, blue, and purple . . . is there a single color that isn’t set off by an accent of orange?

Every Summer, I take a holiday at the beach. I love the natural beauty of the ocean, and all the creatures that call the tides pools, dunes and water-worn piers and jetties their home. Inspired by the amazing, organic textures gleaned from the shoreline, I’ve been hard at work on a new collection of enameled wearables for my other shop, LiaBowenStudio on Etsy.
Each of these Barnacle rings is made form either copper or fine silver metal clay, fired and then enameled to look like the real thing. A tiny white freshwater pearl completes each piece. Still to come: a naturalistic mussel shell, starfish and variety of lady crab.
>My friend Sunny has coordinated a Holiday Fair again this year at her home in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. The emphasis is on hand-made wares and organic edibles for people and pets . . . don’t forget pets! Things are still in the organization process, but I plan to be there from 8 AM to 2 PM with all sorts of lovely enameled jewels to try on and check out.
My two planning objectives for the day:
- Somehow find a way to keep some hot tea on hand all day long
- Buy a reliable CD/MP3 player and play Edith Paif and Django Reinhardt (and later use it in my studio, so it needs to be one die hard CD player to withstand all of the enamel dust and metal grindings!)
Come and see me :
