Fall is a perfect time to pair up daring shades that echo the transitioning colours outdoors. Chilly weather gets spiced up with some new enamel colours available this Autumn 2012 – mixed up with stately plaids and prints, salvaged leather from horse harnesses, and a few addicting textures!
New designs and accessories like drapey earrings, geometric necklaces and chunky rings will be listing in Bullfinch & Barbury’s Etsy Shop soon!
I’ve been helping out an old friend, Mr. Edmund Sparkler, by turning his romantic European aesthetic into metal and gem wearables. Each piece was based on the lush architectural elements that adorned the buildings of the past centuries – many of them have a beautiful “Louis XIV”, French feel.
I carved, sculpted and made molds for each design – then the pieces could be easily translated into precious metals. Other elements are pulled from Edmund’s huge collection of checkerboard cut stones which are set in hand-forged settings.
This is my favourite design – and one I gifted to my sister, Sarah, for her birthday this past week. The garland of flowers and fruit (in a style called a “barbola swag”) has twin alexandrite stones set beneath flowing ribbon ties.

Out with the old … in with the new!
In order to make some room for new designs and color palettes, some of the Piece de Resistance sets will be getting a well-earned retirement. Since they also feature elements like ribbons, pearls and accents that have limited availability, once they are gone, they are gone!
Here are the items to be phased out:
– Golightly Enamel Bangle Set
– Golightly Gleaming Curiosities Necklace
– Savoy Truffle Bangle Set
– Savoy Truffle Gleaming Curiosities Necklace
With new designs and enamel shades on the workbench, new sets will be debuted as these all time favourites are slowly phased out.
Have a color / style suggestion for new bangle sets? I’d love to know! Please leave a comment with your ideas.
Out of all the bold shades that are trending for this autumn, my favourites are the shades of orange and saffron that are too beautiful to pass up. Whether I’m whipping up a batch of Parisian macarons or set of enameled bangles, it seems like warm citrus tones just have a magnetic draw. It seems like the perfect color for mixing – it plays so well with mocha, pink, blue, and purple . . . is there a single color that isn’t set off by an accent of orange?
